10 a.m. to noon - THE BASICS - Everything you need to know to get your PI business started and keep it going strong. Speaker: Ex-newspaper reporter turned PI, Jane Cracraft of Denver, Associate Editor of PI Magazine.

Speaker: Joe Dickerson of Denver has 43 years of experience investigating white-collar crime and conducting civil and criminal financial investigations, evaluating corporate policies, procedures, operations and compliance. He is a Member of the Colorado Governor's Task Force on Privacy. He has been a consultant to the U.S. Attorney, the Boulder County District Attorney's Office and the Boulder County Sheriff. Clients range from individuals to Fortune 500 companies.

Rip-offs, scams, cons, grifters, rigged contests, sweetheart deals that are too good to be true (and aren’t)… it’s a jungle out there. PIs need to know how to catch the schemers. Speaker: Fay Faron of New Orleans, one of America’s most famous PIs, author for years of a nationally-circulated newspaper column, guest on a slew of national TV shows, and author of a bookcase of books, including Rip-Offs: A Writer’s Guide to Crimes of Deception.

3:15 to 4:45 p.m. - -IDENTITY THEFT: STEALTH CRIME OF THE NEW MILLENNIUM.  Senior Investigator Christopher Nelson of the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office will present a program on Identity Theft.  Computers, Economy, and the simplicity of stealing identities have enticed people of all backgrounds to commit this growing crime.  Investigator Nelson will educate you in current trends in identity theft, who is at risk and provide suggestions for preventing and recovering from this devastating crime.
